I got 17 R3 recently and clean installed stock Windows 10.
It's installed on Samsung 950 Pro M.2 drive.
The problem is the whole operation system feels slow and laggy.
Things like switching tabs on google chrome, maximizing/minimizing windows, etc takes 2 or 3 seconds.
Even when it doesn't take 2-3 seconds, the switching animations are laggy (like in old Android versions)
There's no problem with gaming performance.
Is this because the iGPU is struggling to handle 4k screen?

Will upload a video to demonstrate the problem.

Have you updated your drivers at all?

Yeah, all the drivers are latest from dell/intel/nvidia.

Can you benchmark the SSD just to make sure there are no issue with it? I have 0 slowdown and I'm just using a Sata3 speed SSD for my Windows drive.

I just want to add to this...

I have several Windows 7 machines and several Windows 10 machines (1 including my AW17R3). Just benchmarking Visual Studio (I'm a programmer). The startup time from icon to app opened took nearly twice as long in Windows 10 than in Windows 7 (multiple machines tested).

This really doesn't explain your issue, since my windows 10 machines are still snappy and fast. I just believe some things are actually slower than in Win 7. My chrome and other applications seem fine though.

I'd benchmark your SSD and check the Task Manager -> Performance tab and see if you see anything pegged at 99% or anything in red while you switch tabs and stuff. It might be some other process in the background or something else causing the slow down.

Here's the benchmark. The numbers are a bit lower than some of the benchmarks I found on these forums but I don't think it's enough to cause the whole system to feel laggy.

Also, it's not the overall speed of the system that's slow.
Programs start really quick as you'd expect on an SSD.
    Windows boot very quickly too.
It's the switching and resizing windows.
If I maximize a windows, it'd turn into a full screen black window first, before things appear.
When I scroll down a webpage, sometimes it'd pause and freeze for a second and wouldn't scroll smoothly.
Again, best way to describe it is it feels like those very old Android phones.

I was gonna take a video but after a few restarts, it's not as bad as before and harder to catch on video now.
    But it's still there.
In the task manager, CPU is hovering around 10% and memory at 40%.

Don't know why I didn't try earlier, but I tried changing the resolution to 1080p and everything's smooth.
Changed back to 4k and it feels laggy again.
So, it definitely has to do with the resolution.
But I haven't heard anyone having a problem with this.
Is there some performance setting I need to change for iGPU?
I'm not really familiar with Intel's graphics options.

I'll try cleaning the drivers and reinstalling them, just in case.

Try putting the power settings into High Performance mode?

It's already in High Performance mode.
Thanks for the help so far.
    Really appreciate it.

Can you force the nvidia gpu on just to rule out it being the Intel one being under powered?

    I don't know how.
Games run without any issue so I don't think there's any problem with NVIDIA GPU.

I've cleaned both Intel and NVIDIA drivers with DDU.
Installed latest Intel driver from dell and latest NVIDIA driver from their website.
    The issue still exists.

Go into nvidia control panel and manage 3d settings. Change to high performance nvidia card in the global settings. It will force the computer to only use the gpu instead of switching between intel graphics and nvidia gpu.
