in range the best is killer ... in driver stability is better intel ... but i use my killer with the driver and without the app and run 100% fine

It's been easier to tell people to run the "drivers only" package than teach them how to read the instructions and follow the directions
I recommend reading the Killer directions and using the tools provided, they are awesome for controlling local app network traffic so you can download, stream, and browse at the same time.selvedge likes this. -

If you have a mostly single activity, or at most streaming video + browsing mix, which is me a lot of the time, you don't really need to use the Killer tools for load balancing.
The Killer tools don't get in the way in this simple use case, and are set up for when I change my activities on the fly, I don't need to reconfigure to have Killer step in and balance my network streams.
If you are working on numerous things at once, like have remote access open to various servers, build tools running to local network shares, downloads going for build images over the internet, both on ftp and bittorrent, and streaming audio and or video, the Killer software keeps network traffic running smoothly - even when Steam decides to kick in and download updates for a few games.
I don't watch my boot times that closely that I would worry about another second for something so valuable when I am needing it.Last edited: Dec 5, 2016 -
@judal57: Have you observed that Windows error reporting service is constantly filled with Killer Service crashing right after bootup but I have re-configured it to restart the services every time it fails. Maybe I can provide a memory dump file, if you're interrested? BTW, I'm using Killer 1535 chipset.

So far its stable and fares better than WHQL drivers. Some of the bugs are:
- Speedtest does not work using India test servers
- can't download App profiles
-
Can't find proper drivers for killer 1535. Downloaded from Dell under the name of killer but installer is broadcom

Killer Wireless is the best NIC money can buy in terms of Wireless range and latency.
Though lots of people have problems with the included Killer app so I suggest you just install the driver standalone.
Anandtech did an indepth test about Killer Wireless a while ago.

Killer software suite has a lot of issues for a lot of people. It is really picky about the router it can cooperate well with.I have constant disconnects for example even though the router is only 30cm away from my laptop. But in my office it works perfectly well even though there are 4 walls between my laptop and the router.
The plain drivers do work a bit better. I had an Intel card 2 years ago and that one had issues as well but where resolved over time. -

@judal57: Do you beta test BT drivers from Killer as well? I want BT audio, phone book access and lot more features which I enjoyed in W7 and W8.1 drivers supplied by OEMs.

The 8265 is only available from China.
The only difference between the 8260 and the 8265 is Mu-MIMO. You need a Mu-MIMO router to even use Mu-MIMO. -

The Killer wifi it's crap. Connecting to a router Cisco wifi 5mhz (only 1 mt away) copying files to a NAS, the transfer speed is only 12 mb/s máx. By ethernet is more than 100 mb/s.

Ordered an 8265 for my incoming R4. Just to many people with busted Killer cards or Killer driver problems to risk it. I will try the Killer card when the laptop comes in but I doubt I will leave it in once the Intel card gets here.

So far all of the reports I have seen of the killers that have been breaking were the 1535(s).
Not saying it doesn't happen on the 1435 but I haven't seen anyone post of a 1435 connector snapping off.
To anyone that has had a 1435 connector snap off, please post here. -
I was told I was getting a 1435 from the replacement team but the 1535 is listed on the shipping manifest so I presume the 1535 will be installed in it. Really the card only cost me $35 CAD so even if I don't end up needing it I will have a spare ( provided the card actually shows up .. grumbe grumble eBay and China ).
I just filled for a refund on a 7260 for my R1 that never showed up after waiting almost 2 months for delivery. Hopefully I have better luck on this one. -
Killer 1435 here. Pads snapped of the board. Intel 8260 installed and working fine.

The ipex ends are the hard part. You'll need at least a 5x magnifying glass preferably more like 7.5x-10x, to view the ends. Then you'll want a razor blade or knife to be able to get the thin edge between the 2 rings to pop the broken part out. That took me about an hour to do.
I used hemostats to clamp onto the extended brass part of the end to hold the round part steady. Then used the razor to get between the end ring and the broken outer ring of the female connector that broke off the card. It's very tedious work and tiny. -

My 1535 also snapped it's main antenna connector on the board. These are definitely bad cards. I've been building, repairing and taking apart desktops and laptops of all kinds for more than a decade. Used a small flathead screwdriver to try to separate the connections. Still snapped right off.
Having Dell send me a new card RN. Honestly, the 1535 is a top-tier card, the 8260 isn't going to give you better throughput and, the Killer has a better feature set. Intel's driver's are probably more consistently stable but, in my past experience with the 7260 I prefer the Killer. -

ALl the horror stories about the Killer card is making me switch to Intel as well. But I cant find the exact formfactor of the killer card. Whats the connector type? Because the intel's do look different.

I have/had the 1535 and I must have unplugged the cables at least 3 times (meaning they were plugged back in too) and they never broke. However I had a Dell in-home tech come out yesterday with replacement thermal pads since mine had some missing/wrong sizes and he didn't want to even touch the connectors if he didn't have to haha. I told him I had already unplugged them 2-3 times and it was fine, but he ripped them off. Oddly, I wasn't ever being careful with them. I don't think they are THAT bad, I just think people are just being extra careless. Oh and I have a replacement on its way overnight shipping for free.
