What SSD Make / Model is everyone getting for 512GB and 1 TB? I noticed that's not even an option for the 17r5 now but the 1 TB PCIe SSD is still available on some other Alienware models. My 17r3 is being replaced - wondering if I should just keep my dual Samsung PM951s and put them in the new r5.

It seems like the Skynix is junk - but is dell sticking with Samsung for 512GB and 1TB?

They ship is SKHynix, Toshiba or Samsung SSDs. All three are great SSDs with good controllers and good NAND. If you want something nicer, you're going to have to spring for like a retail NVMe, 970 Pro et al or something similar, but the drives they ship in them are pretty top notch. All things can fail and nothing is perfect. Keep a backup if you are concerned or get an extended warranty. It's what I do.

Cheapest bidder of the week. You can order 3 machines at once and they will all come with different drives.

That’s really disappointing. I’m partial to Samsung due to their performance and quality with SSDs and last I knew they actually made their own instead of rebranding someone else’s junk.
