So yeah, Broadwell 13 (i5-5200u/i7-5500u) can have 32 GB of RAM. Albeit, it's at 1333MHz for now, but ehh. Not so sure if it'll work well with the Haswell-based laptops.
If the Alpha gets updated to support Broadwell desktop CPUs, it could very well have 32 GB of RAM too, unlike the X51. But for a console, that's pointless.

If you give console game devs 32GB to work with they might find a legitimate use for it.

This is nice to see. But 32Gb's of RAM is pointless with a PC that has a dual-core CPU.

It's not pointless, a 2 core cpu running an application that needs more than 16gb will be faster than a 4 core cpu with not enough ram. It comes down to what you are using it for. For now it is pretty niche.

It's pointless for gaming. These are gaming PC's. (Surprise!)
Still pretty pointless either way. A dual-core CPU is going to struggle supporting a ton of applications utilizing the full 32Gb's of RAM. But I suppose it does depend on what type. -
I use i7-4600U in my work laptop, and with a lot things open around the 12GB mark the whole thing starts to chock on a dual core low voltage processor. Where as my 16GB with 4 core desktop never had an issue, I actually need more RAM.
32GB with a dual core U processor, useless for both applications and games.
Well, Broadwell 13 just got slightly better
