How do I disable Optimus or at least use the 1060 GPU when gaming?
Oh and I forget how to change my signature so I can add this beauty to my list.
    Thanks.

    fn+f7

if you don't get anything to pop up you need to download the alienware osd which you can find here: http://downloads.dell.com/published/pages/alienware-17-laptop.html

but your 1060 is always being used. optimus makes it so it uses your 1060 during gaming and integrated for other non intensive tasks.

turning off optimus with fn+f7 and using only 1060 may give you some fps boost.

I was playing some battlenet games, Starcraft2, overwatch and heroes of the storm. When I played the first game, no problems. However upon playing the second game lag issues abound! Is it because I'm playing in native resolution 2560x1440? I don't think it is because the discrete 1060 gpu isn't being used. When I restart it seems to clear up the problem but that is darn annoying. Yes it is plugged in too. This is why I previously have had 17 inch tanks with 1080 gpus. I was hopeful this beautiful little machine could game well as advertised. Should I only play games in 1900x1080 resolution?

Does not work on the OLED version of the 13 R3.

    What are your temperatures like?
My 13 R3 can do 1440p with many titles but, because of the limitations of the 1060 since it was meant to shine at 1080p and not 1440p, I sometimes turn things down to 1080p since I would have to drop settings to get things running smoothly at a higher resolution.

    HWInfo

    Yeah, it's not very stable.
It also eats up memory and, on the mobile version, also redirects to possibly harmful fake advertisements.

I've been coming here less often since the LiquidHz Discord got established and it's another good resource (along with the LiquidHz website although that's still in its fledgling stage and the Discord is more active).

Video problems continued this evening! Playing overwatch and after playing for 30 minutes game starts freezing and lagging badly. I'm tempted to get the 15 r3 1070GTX! This is so very frustrating. I even turned the graphics down to medium from ultra and still it lags and freezes Any ideas of why this is happening?

Did you check your temperatures? It could be PCH throttling.
