Just ordered a 17" R3 and was wondering what the best way of running 3 displays? Here's the problem:
I have 2 old Dell VGA/DVI capable displays that lack HDMI, etc. And would like to add an HDMI display to the mix later on. THe Thunderbolt 3 specs say it can drive 2 displays, but how exactly is this accomplished? Can monitors be daisy-chained?

I like the idea of the AW video amplifier, but truly, it may be overkill for my needs as I will more than likely won't be doing much gaming (audio/recording/djing is my main use). Then I found this device which seems nice but still makes me wonder how I would go about hooking all 3 displays to the dock/dongle: https://www.elgato.com/en/thunderbolt/thunderbolt-2-dock

ANy help is appreciated. I have been away from the tech sector since back in the days of the Area 51 M7700 (my last Alienware computer, a real nightmare) and realize display technology has come a long way!

Thank you for the adapter links!
I don't have screens that can be daisy chained, so I need to figure out how to get video from one output on the AW into those 3 types of displays I listed above...

Use the Apple adapter with the VGA cable.
Use Google's USB C to display port.
    Display port to DVI.
Use HDMI port (once you find a monitor with HDMI).
There, 3 external displays. As well, Dell will soon release a USB C adapter (similar to the Dell USB 3.0 adapter).
And I just found out that Dell sells a USB C to VGA adapter.
