I took out the ssd from my old laptop, put it in a housing (external) to use as external storage. However I haven't formatted it yet. I want to copy over photos and stuff to the new alienware. It's still got windows 10 on it. Whenever i plug it into my laptop, it seems to slow to a crawl. Is it because Windows is still on there and was my original bootable drive? How can I easily transfer stuff over? Thanks

Quite possible, you can try copying files using Ubuntu LiveCD.
