Hi everyone,
With windows 10 release date nearing, and the fact that it will be available as a free upgrade for all windows 7 and 8(.1) owners, makes it very likely for a lot of us to upgrade. Also I am excited to see what DirectX 12 is capable of.
Now as you already might know, a notification for windows 10 reservation popped up some time ago, obviously I myself did the reservation, so I was planning to upgrade immediately when it released. But I wanted to ask if it's okay to do something like that?
I mean all our drivers are meant for windows 8(.1)/7 (in my case 8.1). So when upgrading, obviously my drivers stay the same. Can this cause an issue?
Anyone who can clarify this, whether it's okay or not?

Personally I will be waiting for a few weeks after the dust has settled. I primarily play Pcars, so will be watching the forum with interest.

I'll be waiting for reports from bravier users here, I did just that some years ago with my old HP laptop in the w7-8 era, it was hell, not sure how fast is Dell when it comes to critical updates but HP was terrible at it.
Also, while w10 looks nice it doesn't scream in my face UPDATE NOW! like 7 did some years ago... that and I don't think we are going to see differences between DX11 and DX12 just now. -
I'll be waiting about 6 month.

I have been on windows 10 for a while now and everything is running great. Initially there were some driver issues with the 980m but it seems those have all been ironed out in the recent builds. I think performance is definitely improved from windows 8 and i love the new interface fyi.

lol maybe support for previous drivers, but almost no one out there has proper Windows 10 drivers for their products. Hopefully all be ok with my M17x R3, as I has to use alsorts of drivers to make it run Windows 8.1

My Sound Blaster Recon won't work anymore, as it says components are not found. Dell's driver page doesn't have it listed for download either. Is this a Windows 10 issue?

Just updated. took about 15-20 minutes with ssd and OS drive. Soundblaster 3Di control panel not working anymore but still got sound on the laptop.
also unable to launch Intel XTU ATM says a monitoring app is running
everything else so far i working great, I will do some bechmarks at home tonight to compare directX11 and 12 -
No problems at all - the language input was reset to US keyboard but Windows 10 helpfully installed the relevant language pack to get international keyboard input working fine. Drivers were all fine and software compatability has been maintained. I'd type your device model into google followed by 'Windows 10' just to see if anybody has run into problems, just in case.

So far so good, I'm loving the new task view and the extra desktops, gotta get used to the start menu again tho.

Guess who isn't going update the gaming rig yet. -

To everyone with Creative Sound Blaster problems just select Windows 8.1 under the "find it myself" tab.....

If 8.1 drivers actually work that's great to hear. I've had less than stellar luck with those quite often

Yea, thanks for the share Chris Wayne. The 8.1 download reinstall sound blaster. My other issue deals with the apps. Everytime I click on things like Mail, Calculator, Calendar, etc., a new window pops up and then disappears. It is almost like I have a pop up blocker that kills the app from opening. Anyone experience this?

I can confirm, generally no issues. Also got problem with Sound Blaster, reinstalling fixed problem. Also I needed to download new version of Norton Security. Intel XTU works with no problems. So far smooth update for me. UI of new windows is far more better than win 8.
Also checked SC2, Witcher 3 and HoTS. All works okay. -
Hello guys,
I upgraded my Alienware 2015 to Win 10. Everything works fine and I'm pretty happy with it !
Nevertheless, I have a question : indeed, the windows key is embedded in the bios. Fine.
But for windows 10, how will we deal with it ?
I mean I did the upgrade but if I want to make a complete full new install of windows 10. How should I do ?
Is the Win10 key changed accordingly in the bios ?
Or will I need a new one from Microsoft ?
Thx for your answer ! -

You must uninstall creative from add/remove programs. Then download new driver from dell for windows 10 and install it. Everything with sound works perfect for me after this
