    Hi everyone,
Currently, i'm using 15R3 7700HQ 1070 with FHD 60Hz IPS. I'm looking for solution to upgrade my screen to IPS 120Hz. I googled and found some screen AOU with code B156HAN04.2 or B156HAN04.5. Can i replace my screen with new below?

You sure? As far as i know 30pin edp cables cant do 4k and 144hz. @Papusan do you know someone who can shed some light on this?

With LVDS it would've been impossible. However, eDP is more economical with its pin count. For 4k or 120Hz you do need a dual lane cable, but that can be squeezed in a 30-pin cable and such screens do indeed exist.

Mind that having a 30-pin cable does not necessarily mean all its pins are populated; a single lane, half-populated cable would've been sufficient for 1080p+60Hz and would be ~$0.0068 cheaper to make, so there's a risk the current cable might not be compatible after all. With LVDS this was pretty common since an extra channel would cost you 10 extra pins/wires, but for eDP it's only 2. So ... chances are a bit better, even without peeling away the fabric and having a look:

Yes, why not; nothing wagered, nothing gained. Really, chances are pretty good, though brightness control might not work, being stuck at 100% all the time. LVDS is trickier to swap blindly since voltage pins can differ, which usually kills the panel when incompatible. For eDP it's much better since there's fewer versions floating around, the new standardisation being pretty effective in keeping the flock together.

If you want certainty then you need specification sheets such as this one. Page 19 has the pin-out, the voltages and other power requirements are there, pwm frequencies are mentioned and this specific example even has its edid listed at the very end of the document (these pen&paper hex values might be painstakingly typed over in a binary file, in case of mishaps and no ready-to-use binary is available online).

Panelook has the most extensive database for such sheets, but they're behind a quid pro quo system; you have to earn credits by submitting photos or data-sheets on panels they don't have atm. Those credits can then be used to download the sheets for the B156HAN04.2, B156HAN04.5 and the one for your current panel. When you have both old and new in your possession then you have 100%/absolute certainty as to whether the swap will work.

Have lots of sheets myself, yet unfortunately very few of the new 'official' 120Hz models. Do have some coins left on Panelook though, but that's stash for future projects.

Please let us know how it goes. I lost brightness control on my Acer after replacing the screen. A couple others with difference brands also had the same problem

    My panel is 30pin btw.
