    Hi,
I recently connected a 1TB portable external hdd (gets power from the USB port) to my computer (AW15R3) on the powershare USB 3 port. The HDD kept disconnecting and reconnecting and wouldn't work properly. But when I connected the same hdd to the USB 3 port on the right side, no problems at all. Also when connecting a desktop HDD with its own power supply or a thumbdrive to the powershare USB 3 port, no problem, it only keeps happening for the portable hdd. Anyone else seen this issue?

I had something similar but could be different on my 17 r2. Most devices like usb hard drives, usb cd drives, and my phone would repeatedly connect and disconnect so fast that i could not use them. My ex's macintosh super usb dvd drive worked fine but that was about it. Tried all sorts of stuff to fix it... nothing worked

Is this a hardware issue or normal operation of the port?

Good thing I realized that hdd was okay. I was about to break it open and destroy the disk since I couldn't erase it.

try turn off power share from the BIOS and see if the HDD works fine then.
