I have a alienware 17 r2 and my touch pad doesn't light up anymore. I tried the AlienwareAlienFXTester and all the lights are working except for the touchpad. I'm guessing i just need to reseat the cable for the lights but i don't know which cable it is. On the service manual there are 4 cables which are the keyboard cable, keyboard-backlight cable, macro-keys cable and macro-keys backlight cable. Would it be the keyboard-backlight cable?
Just wanted to make sure before i do anything plus dell tech support would be my last resort. any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Edited:
Tried the following but still failed:
    reseating the keyboard-backlight cable
Change bios setting of touchpad from auto to on(changed back to auto after the failure)
reinstalled the latest Application_DCMG2_WN64_4.0.54.0_A02(Alienware Command Center)
    reinstalled the latest Input_Driver_X2VN9_WN64_18.1.34.38_A01(touchpad driver)

    Help please. Thanks.

Have you tried doing a restore point to the time that it worked?

off topic: is it worth it updating to win 10 using @Phoenix guide?
