So I will be receiving an Alienware 15r3 in a couple of days and after some investigations im trying to make a "to do list" as gaming laptops still need a bit of tinkering. However, I still have couple doubt, hope you guys can give me a hand on this!

    1) Check heating issues - So I guess this is a vital step. It seems people use OCCT. Ive never used that software but i guess its pretty straight forward?

    2) Lower CPU voltage - People get a stable CPU with lower temps doing so. Dont see any reason why not to do it

    3) Clean Windows Install - The last 6 years Ive been a Apple user so im not sure how this will work. Does the AW come with the Windows DVD? I will be having an SSD + HDD

    4) Install some bloatware back - Any recommendations on this?

    5) Update Bios - Im guessing its a pretty straight process (like installing any other software).

I hope the completion of this list will also help newcomers to Alienware ;)

    EDIT -

    6) Back bleeding issues in the screen

    7) 1070gtx micron issue

    8) Calibrate TN screen.

    1) They're all going to be hot out of the box it's just a question of how warped your HSF is, if it is within 5-10 but hot then I'd say that's fine and move on.
    2) XTU/Software overclocking has never worked well aside from GPUs so I wouldn't bother unless you bought an HK. It'll look good on benchmarks but using it day to day is a bore as XTU requires program specific profiles and wont "work" while sitting at your desktop which 90% of the time is when you'd want it.
    3) Clean Windows install isn't necessary I would focus on making sure everything works before you "accept" the unit. Check all ports and make sure everything is as it should be.
    4) I've had horrific issues with Geforce Experience causing Optimus lockups/hitching and is the only thing I've removed. Everything else works as intended.
    5) Used to be much worse, now its just like anything else.

Do you have any other recommendations on the bloatware I should install/uninstall apart from the Optimus. I will have a G-sync screen, so no optimus for me.

Well everyone uses it on some level just not in games but certainly on the desktop but other than that no. It's pretty lean from the factory
