So, here's a fairly classic thread. Bought my AW15 from the outlet with a year's standard warranty.

Been uhm-ing and ah-ing over extending the warranty. At the time I bought it I was a definite no, but I've been toying with the idea of extending it, so I emailed a rep.

Standard rates for the UK are:
1 year extension (2 years total) NBD: +£159
2 year extension (3 years total) NBD: +£249
3 year extension (4 years total) NBD: +£329

Now, I was aware that it'd be more expensive purchasing it after getting the laptop (I've had it less than a week), and this was revealed in the one year extension:
1 year extension (2 years total) NBD: +£185 (£26 "premium" over time-of-sale purchase)

Where it goes nuts is if I wanted a second year extension:
2 year extension (3 years total) NBD: +£350

Confirmed with the rep that these quotes are accurate. The 1 year price I accept, but how in heck is the 2 year extension so much extra compared to the at time of purchase?!

Needless to say, I certainly won't be taking out the 2 year extension....

haggle with a rep and ask them for a quote. Then don't respond to them via email once you get that quote. Let them simmer for a week or so, and they'll email you back offering a discount. Then contact them and work out a final price and you'll be surprised how reasonable it can be. I purchased the 3 year for my m14x r2, which is set to expire in September. I went ahead and added a year since its just now showing its age (tech had to come by a week or so ago and replace the heat sink, fan, and repaste / replace battery - all covered under the warranty). When I originally bought the extension 5 months into owning it, I paid 270 USD. When I added this last year, they quoted me over 230 for one additional year (only option). I refused. Ignored the emails, then finally an email wth a new quote came back, and I called to purchase and settled for 1 year extended warranty at the cost of 142 USD.

Your experience may vary, but this was what happened with me. As for my 17 R2, prices quoted were insanity and I went with the 2 year accidental / full coverage warranty from Microsoft for 129.
