My new AW 13R3 will arrive tomorrow.

What are some things that I first need to check for when I receive it?

    For smoothness of Operation:
Even if you opted for an Intel wireless card, you will have Killer Network Manager Software (the Ethernet is a Killer branded one). Disable that software or remove it. Worst software ever, messes with system performance (your Ethernet and wifi should still work fine without it)

I recommend this app to get rid of Optimus micro stuttering (almost every GTX laptop has it in some form): https://github.com/jobeid/dGPUidle

Delete/remove Dell software that pushes you to register the laptop (you can register first if you wish; but the software still runs every time on startup)

    For Temps and Benchmarks:
I would start with downloading OCCT and HWINFO64. Run OCCT for 45 minutes (4 cores) with HWINFO collecting temp data. This will give a good Idea right away if you will need to re-paste and if your PCH is too hot

Then run 3DMark 11 and Firestrike for GPU (both free online) HWINFO running in background

Then Run your most demanding Game for 1 hour HWINFO running in background

Collect all your temp data and report on this forum

    For longevity of OLED screen:

Set a slideshow background, and set to rotate the background every 10 minutes.

Auto-hide the task-bar is a good idea. (also re-arrange desktop icons like 1 or 2 times a month)

If your on anniversary update if you hide the task bar it will cause an error when you power down the laptop. It's a glitch on the anniversary update. Creators edition has fixed this issue with task bar hiding and on shut down
