This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    The new M 13 / 15 / 17 *are* shipping with GTX 980M in Europe (at least in Germany)

    Hey guys,

    (English expat in Germany here)

    I've seen it stated in a few threads that the 980M isn't shipping in Europe, and when customising a system myself to replace my faithful little M14xR2 I bought in the UK, I was also disappointed to not see the option.

    Fear not! After struggling with my terrible German (and a wonderful rep that switched to much better English) she pushed a link to me which 'injected' the 980M into the setup.

    My guess is that they're doing this until the power supply issue is resolved (i.e. those that really know what they want and ask for it will get it - but for the more untrained consumer they'll order the 970M and be safe with the weaker PSU).

    And just because I like taking pictures... ;)

    Roll on to the end of the month when I'll place my order! Just need to scope out a good coupon. :D

    To a moderator: Oops, thread title error, please can someone correct? I meant the new M15 and up. To my knowledge the M13 doesn't ship with the GTX 980M (although feel free to correct me!).

    EDIT: D'oh! I guess you can remove the 'M' from the thread title too. Need more coffee today, clearly... :S

    Thanks for letting everyone know how it's working in EMEA. Since we are located in the U.S we sometimes don't have those small details.
