It all begins when I noticed I could no longer scroll web pages up or down, mouse sensitivity is much higher than usual, and could no longer bring up context menu on the Desktop by tapping with two fingers (right click gesture).

Downloaded Dell's touchpad driver installation, and noticed the following:
    • It doesn't repair driver installation.
    • There's no way to repair driver installation.
    • Skips any installation if it detects there's a driver installed.
    • Cannot force it to install. Wish I could.
    • Doesn't uninstall cleanly. Still detects Synaptics driver installed, but no drivers are found.
    • When uninstalling a second time, cannot find Synisdll.dll, and can no longer continue uninstallation.
    • Now stuck in a situation where the mouse driver cannot be installed and uninstalled.
    • Restarting the laptop fixes the mouse driver issue, but Synaptics driver is no longer there. Cannot install and cannot uninstall.

I had one and it was bad too. My laptop also thought I had a touchscreen because it would keep popping up the on screen keyboard when I would click on things... Never did fix it, just send it back.

You could try a system restore.
