Debating on the 8700 or 9700k paired with a 2080. The 8700 will probably be better for cooling...definately passing on the 9900k. Any suggestions?

I'd go with the 9700K. Should perform better than the 8700, stay relatively cool compared to 9900K and should last you a very long time.

Go for 8086k, since games benefit from IPC and not cores, I'd say you would get better performance thanks to higher core clock speed. Thermals will likely be an issue on the 9700K

    Only options are 8700, 9700K, and 9900K

Unless you have a 8700k or 8086k lying around that you can swap in once you get it, then my vote is the 9700k.

    I agree with the fellas...

IF, you have an 8700K or 8086K, then go with 8700 to save some bucks.

IF not, definitely go with the 9700K.

The truth is even an 8700 is sufficient for gaming etc... going 9900K can bring more con's than pro's with its heat and wasted potential.

    :)
