    Hi Guys,

I recently scored a pretty sweet deal on an AW Skylake system with the following spec. The system will arrive early next week, and since I bought this as an impulse purchase and didn't do any prior research, I was wondering if there are any issues (throttling, etc) I should be on the lookout for. If there are any dealbreakers, I'd just not open the system and return it for a full refund.

Thank you and happy new year to all!

Dang dude, I'm not sure if anything is wrong with it, but thats an absurd price on that system. Really good deal.

There are wifi issues mainly for a lot of people. But uninstalling all the network components, reinstalling latest killer suite and then uninstalling the killer manager in this order seemed to have worked for me. If what you got is a brand new unused one, then don't even think about returning it. If there are any issues, just take dell's help and forum help and make it work for you. By the way, where did you find this deal?

Edit: Oh I see that's a Dell outlet laptop. Makes sense now. Are you sure it is unused/not refurbished?

Yes it is an outlet refurbished. I noticed it says 4GB 980m GTX. Don't the Skylake AW only come with the 8GB?

Alienware 980Ms come mostly with 4GB VRAM, regardless of what you order :)

Nice deal on that. $1200 for a laptop typically gets you in the 960M ballpark of GPU. Getting a 980M for that is great.

dude!!! OMG that price??? really?? I have the 17 r2 with similar specs (4720HQ CPU and DDR3 ram, extra 256GB SSD) and my laptop costs $2300. Just wow! As for your question, I don't have much info on R3 models but as far as I know there are no problems with the skylake processors. And congrats for having such a machine for such a price!

    EDIT: excuse my excitement :)

Noone mentioned yet. The system features soldered gpu and cpu. This means no swapping in faster/newer parts in the future.

    Deal breaker for some

Congrats on the awesome deal! Very happy for you mate.

I see that it comes with only a 1TB spinner eh? That's exactly how I would want to order it since I have my own SSD's to put in the laptop.

How is everything working out for you? Laptop running well? Any issues?

First one was DOA with a bad HDD and booting problems. They overnighted a replacement with these specs (1TB SSD?!!) and the gorgeous UHD screen:

God bless the US. Elsewhere you would be lucky to get a refund.

Score! So you've ended up with something "more" than what you had. ...very nice. Was the replacement a new model or another refurbished unit?
