depends on what your user requirements are. But the 51M does seem litke a better unit compared to the normal 17, thicker though.

Doesn't Dell do 21-day returns? Why not return it and get the new Area-51M?

Thanks I thought so, but wanted to ask you guys first, since it’s a hit or miss when you ask a dell rep what is possible.

Definitely return it ASAP. Don’t even contemplate and later have buyers remorse.

Keep it, if you didn't know 4 months ago that rtx was coming then you probably don't care too much for the hardware you currently got considering how much research you did.

Nope I’ll send it back did plenty research just did not think there would be a new RTX laptop that was upgradable from Alienware. So no need for your ignorant commit.

Just got a quote with a i7 9700 and RTX 2080 with 16gigs for $2771 without tax... That’s only about 220 more than my 17 that just arrived. However it does have 32gigs of ram instead of the 16 with the Area 51.

Yea, why anyone would buy from the website boggles my mind.... such cheaper prices if you call.

Not always. I've tried doing the call in and get a better price and got three reps in a row quoting me for the website price and telling me I was getting a bargain. So from my experience is that bargaining is more or less dead. Unless you know someone that works there.

I found the Chat is better than the phone for a discount. It gives you time to think before you ask for things and devise a strategy. Usually saying you have a fixed budget works (craft the budget to be about a 15% discount on your config)

I just straight up tell them they can do better lol. Some say no you’re right on that, then I hang up and call again. Lol

I've never tried the fixed budget idea. I'll have to try that.

I wouldn't have to patience to do that too often. I did call one out that his price was exactly what the website said. He claimed it was the best he could do. Honestly when I try it seems like they don't care if they make a sale or not.
