Hi all, I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to post about my experience with Pete Light. I had gotten in touch him about a month ago requesting his repaste + repad service, and finally sent him my laptop when I was on holidays in the UK.

My laptop (AWR417, GTX1080 w/ i7 6820HK) was in a horrible state. It had stuttering issues despite lack of thermal throttling, which I understood was caused by misalignment of the heatsink from the Mobo VRMs.

It was a second hand unit, and it was obvious that the previous owner had attempted a repaste of his own. To cut a long story short, several components within the PC were damaged/frayed.

I'd told Pete about this beforehand, and whilst he was understandably wary about working on such a defective unit, he agreed to take a look. He also gave me an estimated time frame (which he managed to beat by a few days!).

Pete exceeded my expectations in every step. He gave me updates regularly of everything he did via Discord and was always ready to discuss any concern I had. I got back my unit much earlier than expected, despite his work obligations. Before, I ran my PC on bone-stock clocks with core differentials often times exceeding 23C, with a max temp of around 95C if I'm in a particularly demanding game.

Here it is hitting mid-90s on the hottest core, using an OCCT stress test:

Post-repaste, the system sits cool with max CPU temps on the same benchmark at 62C, with a 4C differential!

Most importantly, after a week of testing the system for hours on end, I'm happy that I can detect NO stuttering issues whatsoever. Performance stays consistently smooth, and temps shoot up to mid-70s on the most demanding games before falling down to 60s.

Here's the laptop running about an hour and 40 minutes of BF4 on highest settings:

Even after the repaste, Pete was happy to answer any questions that I had about the system, which was highly appreciated :)

If you're in the UK/Euro area and have been unsuccessful with repasting yourself system, Pete comes highly recommended. From what I gathered, he's done repastes on dozens of Alienwares in the past, so you have peace of mind knowing that he has the required experience to do a great job. Pete made the whole process easy and painless, and I couldn't be more happy with the service.

Cheers buddy. Enjoy your Alienware now the way it was meant to be enjoyed! :)

It was a fun challenge working on yours haha. No less than 3 stripped heatsink screws!
