    Hi
My Alienware didnt come with any CD (thank god - dont have a drive!) or USB with windows and drivers. If I wanted to reinstall windows on a new SSD (for example), how would I go about it?

    Thanks

Use Jelly Bean Key Finder to know your Windows key and make a backup copy of it, then you must have a soft copy of the OS (at least an ISO image) depending on the OS that you're using. If you don't have a copy you can download it from microsoft website, then make a bootable USB using Windows 7 creation tool or Rufus, from there you can reinstall Windows.

But I didn't get a copy of Windows 10 with the laptop. Only option is to reset the laptop (that I can see)

Bro, you can download a copy of Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and Windows 10 from Microsoft: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7 for FREE.

    http://prntscr.com/e7cwnu

All you need is your Windows CD key to activate Windows later on after re-installation.

You can find your Windows CD Key using Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder: https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

    http://prntscr.com/e7czp0

To create a bootable USB you need:

    - An empty USB Stick with at least 4GB.

    - Windows 7 Creation Tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool

    or

    - Rufus: https://rufus.akeo.ie/ (I prefer this one because you have an option to create a UEFI bootable USB).

As for the drivers you can download them here: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/alienware-15-laptop/drivers

Re-installation is the same from a bootable USB stick if you follow the instructions above.

    GL bro!

    thanks

Currently on the fence as to whether return this laptop and get an XPS or reinstall windows to see if that helps quicken things up a bit. At the moment, it feels very slightly laggy all the time. Clicking on things has a slight delay. Even clicking on the windows 10 settings bar freezes the mouse for a second. its not much but feels like there is something causing it (hence the thinking behind a reinstall). I have updated every driver I can think of (they were ALL out of date quite substantially)

Let's just hope that a simple re-installation will fix those problems, if not then it's another deep problem as expected from most Alienware laptops.

What sort of deep problem? I dont think I want to do a clean install if I am going to return it. They may not accept it if I do that. The temperature of the processor is always kept in check which is good. Even after an hour of gaming, it never goes over 75 degrees.

if i do a clean install, is everything that is needed for the laptop on dell support? I would start with those drivers to start with then probably go to nvidia website for latest graphics driver
