    Received Alienware 17 R3 back and now it's BSOD'ing

    They replaced the motherboard due to a faulty ethernet port. I received it back the other day and started reinstalling everything on it. Today I logged in and now it won't stay up for more than a few minutes before "VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE" BSOD. Graphics drivers are updated.

    I suspect it is. Turn off automatic driver updates in the system control panel and reinstall all drivers from the manufacturers themselves.

    Hello, I don't want to worry you but the same thing happened to me on my brand new system, and no driver combination or clean install would fix it, since my computer was brand new I managed to get a replacement, so if yours just got it fixed I would call them back, and have them install a brand new motherboard, I'll keep you posted since I still have the laptop and I keep trying driver combinatios and bios settings, I get different errors all the time but the GTX 980m has not worked for more than a few minutes before a hard crash or bsod.

    Yea...I think there's something legitimately wrong. Bad motherboard or SSD. Hard locking after a clean install of Windows.

    Called AW. They confirmed it's boned. Scheduling onsite repair this time. Attempt number 2 =/

    Best of luck to you! I still have not received my replacement its still in production apparently, Just out of curiosity when you get a chance to talk to the repair team ask if this is a trend on this BGA motherboards or just isolated incidents .

    Good luck. I went through 3 motherboards and they finally sent me a replacement. Unfortunately it's also got issues so at this rate maybe they'll just send me one of the new AW17 models coming out this year.

    My issues were different from yours but I get constant BSODs or system freezes without BSODs. Tons of issues with the AGA as well as processor issues.
