I have been having this issue for awhile. LH touchpad button doubleclicks occasionally without a double input. I had my touchpad replaced thinking it was the touchpad itself. Issue persists. Has been annoying me more and did a bunch of searches and eventually ran into this thread. Has anyone found any workarounds to waiting on alienware to address the software?

Call support and explain you have a faulty touchpad.

If they ask you to do self-diagnosis you should say

    • have reinstalled os from dell image and from windows own restore option
    • have installed latest driver from dell website
    • have installed latest bios update
    • have installed latest windows update
    • have try boot in safe mode

After you say all that, they are supposed to do an on-site replacement. NEVER accept the scam "depot" shipping, have excuse that you are busy and need laptop asap for business etc.

Check out the link. Alienware tech states engineering is working on a software update to address the issue. This has to be a widespread issue.

I have exactly the same problem. 15R3 - I assumed it was a software problem though and luckily avoided getting any hardware replaced.

I've also had this issue since I got my 17 R4. It's SUPREMELY frustrating as I got this machine for development work which involves a lot of data entry and situations where you REALLY don't want to unintentionally double click, e.g., accidentally kicking off an hour long invalidation/rebuild of assets. Add this to the current AlienFX firmware issue with suspend resume which breaks the keyboard back light until you re-flash the BIOS, and it makes this machine astonishingly frustrating to use. I can't express how disappointed I have been in Dell the last few months after my last Precision M6400 worked almost perfectly for 8 years.
