I have been having this issue for awhile. LH touchpad button doubleclicks occasionally without a double input. I had my touchpad replaced thinking it was the touchpad itself. Issue persists. Has been annoying me more and did a bunch of searches and eventually ran into this thread. Has anyone found any workarounds to waiting on alienware to address the software?

I cant be the only person dealing with this

Call support and explain you have a faulty touchpad.
If they ask you to do self-diagnosis you should say
- have reinstalled os from dell image and from windows own restore option
- have installed latest driver from dell website
- have installed latest bios update
- have installed latest windows update
- have try boot in safe mode
After you say all that, they are supposed to do an on-site replacement. NEVER accept the scam "depot" shipping, have excuse that you are busy and need laptop asap for business etc.Vasudev likes this. -
Check out the link. Alienware tech states engineering is working on a software update to address the issue. This has to be a widespread issue.

Very surprised there isn’t a large number of complaints here

I've also had this issue since I got my 17 R4. It's SUPREMELY frustrating as I got this machine for development work which involves a lot of data entry and situations where you REALLY don't want to unintentionally double click, e.g., accidentally kicking off an hour long invalidation/rebuild of assets. Add this to the current AlienFX firmware issue with suspend resume which breaks the keyboard back light until you re-flash the BIOS, and it makes this machine astonishingly frustrating to use. I can't express how disappointed I have been in Dell the last few months after my last Precision M6400 worked almost perfectly for 8 years.
