Do i undervolt just the cpu cores or also the cache by the same amount?

also, which software to test the performance loss from undervolting?

    spec: AW 17 r3, 6700HQ

something's weird going on with my UV.

during benchmarks i get the normal 31x multiplier on my 4 cores, but during gaming it get between 27x and 28x only, no crashing or anything anywhere, and the UV amount doesn't matter.

i tried -125mv, -100mv, and -50mv offset using throttlestop on cpu core and cpu cache, and tried with cpu cores only as well, and they all do this

Use Intel XTU to undervolt. I don't think Throttlestop works with the AW's to undervolt.

In gaming, the CPU will only clock to what it needs for that game

Does XTU have an offset voltage like throttlestop or do i have to fine tune the voltages myself?

edit: also, please take a look at my other thread, it has a better explanation of the situation http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/throttlestop-not-working-right.801438/

Its a slider that you can move in + or -.005v incriments. You can start about -0.100 v fine.

Strange, I had no issues with throttlestop and undervolting :(

i will try reinstalling throttlestop and give XTU a go, it's a super weird issue though.

may i ask what model (laptop amd cpu) and BIOS you have?

thanks for that previous tip man, i downloaded xtu today and ran -125mv UV fully stable and runs at max clocks as normal, off with throttlestop.

So once you ubdervolt it, does it save the setting to the bios or does it require XTU to be run each time the computer boots up ?

apparently it saves it, i shut down my lappy and turned it back on, HWmonitor reports the UV but xtu isn't in the system tray, so i assume it saves the voltages.

Using TS, you must manually undervolt CPU,Cache offset.

i did, by -125mv, but the problem is that TS not only decreased my voltage, but also maximum clock during gaming, instead of the 31x multiplier for turbo it capped at 27x, even without any undervolting or doing ANYTHING in TS, running it lock my turbo during gaming to 27x until i restart my laptop for a reason unknown to me.

it matters not, i'm get a much better platform with XTU, and the undervolt there works.

Saves the settings until you have a system crash. Then you need to reset.
