    Hi all.

I´m considering change my Asus G73JH, which has actually no problem and I´m thinking about G751 and AW 15, both GTX 970 models. But I have some questions.

    - I´m happy with my G73, I had zero issues and since I change one of the HDDs for an SSD, I´m even happier. Is AW so over Asus in quality?, does it worth AW over Asus?

    - Can I easily change or put an new SSD on the AW 15?, I want to buy the basic one, and add or change an SSD of my choice (I don´t know if I have to remove the old HDD or it has several HDD caddies.

    - Same thing with the RAM, is it accesible?, will I been able of upgrade it, or It has a hidden slot like G73.

And final question, would you pick AW 15 or G751 (I know I´m on the AW thread... :)

    Thank you in advance.

P.S: Ups, I forgot to mention, obviously I know the difference in screen size between AW 15 and G751, the thing is I usually play on an external monitor, so no big concern on screen size. I would even consider AW 13 if there were GTX 970 and i7 option...

Unless you need the portability your basically moving latterly and not forward.
Your going to get about the same performance with both models so I would hold onto the ASUS, not becuase the AW is bad but becuase spending that much money to have the same thing but in a smaller package is not that great an idea.
But hey if you have money to burn go for it .

Yes, it's easy to replace and accessible. We even have videos on YT for this process on the AW 13 which is the same one as this.

    Same as above!

Why are you comparing the AW15 to the G751? A 15" laptop vs a 17"? Doesn't make sense. You'd want to compare to the AW17. You'll get better thermals (And therefore better overall "performance") from the AW17.

Between the two, I would personally get the G751, assuming you can buy it locally and get a good extended warranty on it. Those ASUS laptops follow a lottery system, where you might get a flawless machine without any issues, or one with issues. So you need to be able to return/exchange it until you get a perfect one.

I've used both machines, and the G751 is, in my opinion, a better machine. Build quality is just as good (if not better), performance is better (you can view benchmarks to prove this) and it comes with 4 RAM slots and a Blu-Ray drive. It also is quieter, and the keyboard doesn't get hot under load. However, the support/warranty isn't as good as Dell (hence the part about getting the extended warranty from the store you bought it from).

    My opinion.

Now, this might prompt you to ask "if you think the ASUS is better, why don't you get that instead of the AW17?" - which is a valid question. The reason is that I got a really good deal on my AW17 ($1600 CAD after tax, including a neoprene sleeve, 240W PSU and a $76 gift card). The base G751JT here would cost close to $2100 CAD after tax for the same system - and that doesn't even include the extended warranty.

Since AW17 and AW15 cost the same, with the same characteristics, I´d prefer AW15 because I mostly play on an external monitor and I use it to work, meaning I have to carry it over often. So the smaller size with same characteristics is a plus for me.

On the other hand, I´m so happy with my G73 that I´d buy the Asus one.... I know a lot of people have issues with Asus ROG laptops (maybe I´m the only one that never had an issue...)

Another thing is that I think Asus offers global warranty, that would be nice because I will probably buy the laptop in the US, here in Spain is more expensive, and even though currency exchange EUR-DOL is not as good as used to be is still way cheaper.
