Hello Guys I have a problem:

My laptop model is the 2017 new alienware 17.

I called dell to ask for a replacement for a part that was bothering me cosmetically, nothing to do with laptop performance. The dell tech insisted that he does also a diagnosis to make sure everything is good to go with the system. I accepted.

The BIOS diagnosis brought up this error: ( see attached pic)

I did repaste the laptop a week ago and I did remember to reconnect both fans to the MOBO. After all when I update the BIOS both fans turn up really high so that tells me both are getting power just not recognized by the laptop. I also unplugged the CMOS battery while I repasted. im not sure if that has something to do with with.

Neither CPUZ or GPUZ recognize or even find my fans. They do start to spin faster when I run benchmarks though...

We tried many things including updating to BIOS 1.0.8 and still same error. Is the CPU fan on the right ride or left side of the laptop as I look at it?

Also I tried opening the laptop and running some programs, both fans are turning,... is there a program that I could download to test the fan's speeds? This is totally new with me, maybe someone would be willing to to a remote check on my machine? please PM me if that would be ok.

The tech said he was going to send a tech to replace the fan but I am dreading a tech get his hands on my machine, Ive had nothing but bad experiences with those techs. If possible I would like to avoid it.

first of all, you didn't say the model of your alienware, second: i cant see the picture ... this forum is dying hahah thrird: as far as i know some new models (pascal) are showing fan error on DIagnostic boot, but it is nothing wrong with the fan ... they solved the problem doing something that i cant remember..... dont accept another disassembly if you like the cosmetic of your laptop

i am not 100% sure, but i think you need to reflash the BIOS using a USB stick and flash from boot
