Thought I would do a poll about the recent "not starting up" issues that have plagued a lot of people including myself with the new revision machines. It is assumed that upgrading to BIOS version 1.2.12 and above are to blame but its not been proven.

Well wernt you the one that posted the fix? So they dont actually die when issues happen. It just needs a CMOS clear.
It seems there is a high amount of people that say that going from 1.2.3 to 1.2.12 caused the problem.
1.2.3 was pulled from Dell's servers.

Yeh but it's not really a fix as it will happen over and over again or at least that was my experience before the motherboard was changed again.

Also, the fix is not working for a lot of people aswell.

There is a clear pattern that it happened after the release of 1.2.12. Called alienware out on it and no reaction. 1.2.2 is the most safe bios in my opinion.

Alienware need to step its game up when it comes to bios releases.

I'm on 1.2.3 and am afraid to update, lol. Although, I want the GTX 1080 .... Anyone know if that works with such a low bios version?

If you are going to stick with a low BIOS version go with 1.2.2. For whatever reason 1.2.3 has been pulled from their servers.

I had the same bios when R3 and I decided to downgrade to 1.2.2 just incase because they did pull that bios and the update went fine, stable so far.

2 weeks later my laptop is finally working after having Dell replace first the MOBO, and then the HDD. It was working fine until the night I updated! Sooooo annoying!
My new MOBO came with 1.2.12, hopefully it doesn't die too :(

I think those results are skewed by the way. Maybe a search engine that voted on the first result. THere is no case known of non starting up laptops with bios pre-1.2.12.

I was thinking something similar myself. However, my last motherboard kept having the not starting up issue even after downgrading to 1.2.2 from 1.2.12.
