Hello guys, I'm planning to buy a manufacturer refurbished laptop from ebay. It is an Alienware 15 R3. It would cost me around 1280 usd. Can I trust this deal?? or is it too good to be true. The seller has 7863 feedback score with 99.6 percent positive. The heating issues about this laptop do worry me. I will get this laptop shipped to Australia as I'm based there. Should I go with this.

what are the specs?
You can usually trust a seller with 99% or more feedback, Also should have at lest 200 feedback with more than a few expensive items. (would be suspicious if they had 200 feedback but only sold cheap made in China crap, and only one big ticket item) -
I remembered http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/suspected-fake-asus.773914/ with GTX 980m being sold in ebay for only $1100, brand new factory sealed as it said in the description, seller also have 3000+ positive feedback 90+ something %, end up too good to be true.

I'd say don't - eBay is shadier than Dell's Outlet - just go on the Outlet and get a refurb with a large discount and OEM warranty still on it.

The seller only sells Alienware products. Has about 136 results. I asked him for pics but he said he cant provide pics as the items are manufacturer refurbished.

Sounds sketchy as hell - I'd go with Dell Outlet. Lots of discounted refurbs there as well. All of them come in almost mint condition and have OEM warranty -

i7 6600K does NOT exist - it's fake and a scam. -
6700k .. i mistyped it

No such thing exist for BGA like Alienware my friend, if the seller wrote 6700K then its too good to be true.

If the seller sells a lot of Alienware machines and has good feedback then I don't see what the issue would be. I purchased a refurbished 15 R2 - i7, 16gb, 970m for $1,200 when that was the newest model from a seller on eBay and had no issues. It had a full year of warranty when I got it as well.
The biggest thing to worry about is improperly listed information about the specs. However eBay is pretty good about forcing the selling to take the item back if it doesn't match the listing.Last edited: Feb 15, 2017 -

I take it this is one of the systems being sold by "new.techies"? If that's the case it's probably similar to the person I bought my computer from. They have all Dell laptops for sale, I'm pretty sure they get deals by buying from the Dell Outlet in bulk. Honestly, if it weren't for the extended warranty the amount you're saving wouldn't be enough to concern me. It has the previous generation processor, 8gb instead of 16gb of ram, and no ssd. So if you look at a new one from Dell for $1,650 with the new processor, extra ram, and 128gb ssd it's not like it's a "too good to be true" deal. Not sure how important battery life is to you. But unless you care more about the extra year of warranty I would consider the the seller's other listing for $10 more. It comes with 8 extra gigs of ram and a 99whr battery instead of a 68whr battery. The tradeoff is that you get 1 year of warranty instead of 2.

yea thanks for advice. how was your experience ?? was the laptop fne or did yoi encounter any issues

I did actually have a dumb issue with my sound chip. I called Dell and they tried some things for repair. In the end they replaced the whole computer with a new one that has been working fine. It wasn't necessarily an issue with eBay or the seller. Just a defect on a refurbished Alienware unit.

Expect the Tripod cpu heatsink mess and overheating + uneven core temp with refurbished AW models. Guaranteed!! Regardless if you buy it from Dell outlets or shops on the web.
Planning to Buy Manufacturer Refurbished Laptop from Ebay AL 15 R3 .
