Specs below, GPU overclocked 1.2v 1485/1510, PCH reaches 92c while a game is being played (KF2).

Wonder if it's something to do with it not having a heatsink on its own, but @iunlock reports that his overclocked CPU and 980M only reaches 75-80 deg.

What could make such a big difference in PCH temps?

I could mount a small heatsink and see what it does, but I won't spend effort in doing so, this machine is going back to bb on the 23rd.

My PCH after that KF2 session was 74C...wonder how a thermal pad would do?

thermal pad wouldn't help if there's nothing to dissipate heat on the other side

Gotta love Best Buy, but those PCH temps are unusually high even for an AW.

Oh I know, I was just thinking if you could rig it to make contact (connect) to a surface that can dissipate the heat, like to the heat sink somehow or even to the main frame, it could do the trick..I think mid 70's should be fine eh? Next time I open it up I'll think of something creative and test it out.

like i posted few days back.. PCH temps sometimes throttle downs ur CPU.. mine reaches 90c above.. so yeah only way to reduce temps is either a proper copper heatsink type thermal pad.. but yeah again on AW models its close to the bottom base panel. u have less headroom for thick thermal solutions..
