Hello everyone!
I've been doing a lotta research for the past two months and have finally decided on the 15R3, as it satisfies all my needs.
I got a nice deal from the outlet on a refurbished laptop, and the laptop should be arriving by Friday(27/3).
Specs:
7700HQ
GTX 1070
16GB @ 2667MHz RAM
512GB SSD+1TB HDD
FHD 120Hz w/ GSYNC
Killer 1435
Win 10 Home
4 Year Premium Support
Total: $1,855.34 (incl. tax)
I think I got a pretty good deal, what do you guys think?
P.S. I was offered the 4 year warranty for the same price as the 2 year one. And considering that AWs generally have many defects, I thought it best to go for it.
Also I've some questions:
Thanks!
- I've heard that the Killer Wifi is pretty bad. Is there a software fix for it? Or do I have to replace it with the Intel 8260?
- As the laptop is a refurb, there is a pretty high chance that it has a lotta thermal issues(high core temp diff, very bad stock thermal paste and pads). Since I have the warranty, should I go to Dell if the issue arises and would Dell technicians be able to repaste my unit, with a thermal paste I provide?
- What tests should I run on the machine out of the box to test for the temps?

1. the killer wifi card is fine. Their Killer network managing software is garbage, remove or disable the software and you should be fine.
2. No, Dell's outsourced technicians are useless. Don't let them touch your unit. At best they will bend your heat-sink and scratch up your case. If you want it done properly, pay someone or do it yourself.
3. Firestrike in a loop would be good. -
I've never used Firestrike so is there a guide to it or is it fairly straightforward to use?
And if I open up the unit myself then the warranty will still be intact, right? -
