So I really want to order the r4 17 7820hk + gtx 1080 but I do not want to get into repasting, Has dell switched pastes or fixed this heat issue some other way? I do not want to spend so much on a laptop just to start ripping it apart.

The issue was indeed addressed on Dell's part but if you want that extra bit of work put into your machine, order from HIDevolution and they'll repaste for you as well as offer some of the best customer support available.

It's the top end config from a boutique seller. What did you expect? :D

Anyone know any places that would do a repaste for me in canada if I did order through Dell and had heat issues? Calgary/Edmonton area. HID is just way to expensive. HID also wanted to charge me $300 for shipping where Dell is free. Also found a $150 promo code that actually works for Dell. So my order through Dell would be $4000 and the same order through HID is over $5000 lol.

You're paying for HIDevolution - an intermediary who handle any repairs and support required as well as the repaste.

I understand that but $800-$1000 more. Not worth it.

I guess if I did order through dell and I had heat issues I could send it back to be fixed. Although as you say they have addressed the issue so hopefully I would have none.
