    Before awaiting responses, try this.
    https://www.fedex.com/apps/fedextrack/?action=altref&cntry_code=us&freight=yes
(your order number is the reference)
Dell's tracker is usually outdated, and fedex should give you an idea of when you should get the PSU.
This might be helpful too to see if you are affected by shipping delays (on Fedex's part) or not.

If that is the case, then that means Fedex has not gotten any information about your laptop.

    Thanks

When you say Yes, do you mean I can change HDD and ram without ripping off any warranty sticker?

I know I have read the bad points but they are ok with me. Only things I didnt like are the hot keyboard and no dvd drive

Can I find 2 HDDs in this laptop? As I am ordering one with just 1 HDD because I want to put my own SSD in there

Remember AW 17r2 also can only use 1 standard ssd in this joke box. You must buy expensive M.2 ssd in the other 4 slot. This joke box has not raid support and you can only overclock processor if you have invests in a G / A amplifier. One oc profile in the bios. Meanwhile you must argue with Dell that you can get a 240W power supply instead of the weak 180w that accompany these The laptops .. Be also prepared to set aside money to invest in it in a new battery as the battery get a shortened lifespan due the Hybrid functionality .. This word are from Dell : Supercharged gaming: The blazing Intel® Core™ i7 processor becomes overclocked when plugged into the optional Graphics Amplifier for the ultimate gaming advantage and excitement. A crazy functionality .

There is only one 2.5" bay, you can only fit one harddrive in there. Poor design choice. You can change RAM fine. However be prepared for a potentially long wait, headaches, misinformation, and lack of support on your way to owning this laptop. Be prepared to have to potentially argue with a rep over the phone to get a full gaming experience when you want the 240W PSU to power your laptop like it should have been.

Come in with no expectations and you'll be OK, come in with some expectations and you'll be severely upset and disappointed.

I'm not sure if it works with this laptop or not. I know some SSDs have been found out not to work with the new models of Alienware.

Maybe AW 13.15 and 17R2 get support for multiple ssd/hdd brands in a future bios update. So be careful to choose the right ssd/hdd brand that Dell recommends for you. Fully or totally insane.

It'll work. The only laptop having that has some trouble with 2.5" SSDs is the AW13, not the AW15 or AW17 R2.

Keep in mind that if you don't want performance issues the 850 Evo series is safer than 840s.

No one knows yet whether 850 Evo is a safe choice. Given the problems to 840 Evo, I would not recommend this yet. It is not fully tested for future problems like other ssd with solid mlc nand. 840 Evo has been in sales long time before anyone saw that there were problems with this ssd. In fact for over 1 year, no one knew about the problems that emerged. Old 840 Evo was launched in July 2013 and is still problem with this Samsung SSD.

if you want to use a 240watt+ adapter, will it actually use the extra power or is this locked down in the bios?

Yes. It will use as much power as needed. The laptop shouldn't go over 240w when everything is stock.

Also another thing about the power supply. Excuse my noobness about this but whats the difference between 180w ans 240w power supply? Wouldnt the power supply just charge the battery? Or you guys talking about the internal PSU?

How can I convince Dell to give me a 240w if I buy this

    Hi.

You just have to call your local Dell hotline when you have received the Notebook and tell them that you bought a Notebook with GTX 980M and you now want a 240W AC Adapter. This took me two minutes on the phone and they shipped it for free without any trouble.

I got it for free. They shouldn´t charge you anything.

As far as I know they can´t send it with the Notebook. Just order and call them after the notebook has arrived.

Laptops don't have an internal PSU.
Both 180w and 240w PSUs will charge the battery; however, when the CPU and GPU are under full load, with certain configurations (those with the 980m and m295x) will be held back on the 180w PSU because, well, it'll exceed 180w and the laptop won't allow that. On a 240w PSU, this is not the case.

so i found my dell power supply from another work laptop I had. Bios reports it as 210 watt. I have notice a nice increase in stability for demanding games, almost night and day. Cant believe dell screwed this one up and shipped with only 180 watts

Thanks for your info. I actually was not looking at the 980m and M295x model I was looking at the NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 970M with 3GB GDDR5 one

Do you still think this will be throttled down to use less power with a 180w PSU? I asked the sales rep this and he said it wont happen that the GPU will not throttle down under load, but then again it was the sales guy. Did you just mean for the 980m and M295x

The 970m might have some slowdowns (some have said that the new BIOS has improved the performance of the 970m and the CPU), but the issue mainly pertains to the 980m and m295x.
That said, you can always be safe than sorry.

With the new a02 bios that's probably true except with the wear on your battery. Not a huge concern to me because I will be using it with the amp the majority of the time.

If The 970m might have some slowdowns with the original bios but get increased perfomance with updated "hybrid" bios then this means that also the 180w power supply is a bit weak maybe ..

I am thinking of buying an Alienware 17 , but I have not found any review to this 2015 model .

I've seen AW15 reviews with fan noise up to 53dB under load . The AW17 is as noisy ??

What about max temperatures of cpu and gpu with demanding games as a BF4 ??

And what about the standar panel 1080p non-touch ?? IPS or TN ?? same LG model of the Asus G751 ??

    Thanks for the info .

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/alienware-17-r2-quick-review.771355/

The product page for the AW17 states that the screen is IPS.

The only IPS panel currently in production that I know of is the LG panel used in the ASUS G751 and Acer V Nitro. Google FTW.

I didn't have any tools to measure actual noise or surface temps for my review.
