Hi all I can't seem to find the option for 120hz as if it doesn't exist for this panel. I have enabled high refresh rates before on multiple monitors and laptops before so I'm familiar with it.

This is where I looked so far

-Display adapter properties > Display all modes

    -Nvidia control panel

    -Display adapter properties > Monitor

I have tried reinstalling graphics drivers as recommended via google yet no change. The model description under Generic PnP Monitor > events, list it as AUO1596 which I believe is the updated panel that fixed the banding issues so this should be able to reach 120hz. Any help is appreciated !

you should be able to select what refresh rate you want under the NVIDIA control panel, under Change Resolution

This has happened to me a couple times.. Download latest Nvidia driver and save to HD. Download and run DDU in safe mode. Clean all Nvidia driver files with dud. Make sure your disconnected from interest. Reboot after DDU. Install the latest Nvidia driver. Then connect back to internet.

Dang I was really hoping this would work but I tried it twice and no luck. All I can think of is formatting but I don’t want to download all this software again.

Is it aftermarket LCD with GSYNC or AW ones that Dell provided when the old LCD was replaced?
If you're warranty you can hit up Dell since most GSYNC monitor are pre-listed by nvidia by addding special device-ids for GSYNC to work. For MSI users, a firmware update fixed it.

Looks like this laptop was manufactured Nov 17 2017 with warranty until feb 2019.

Under listed specs I got this
    YG4XT : Module,Liquid Crystal Display, 17.3QHD,AG,Au Optronics Corp,K ,A17R4

Under Generic PnP Monitor event settings it says its AUO1596

Can anyone confirm if they have this panel and that it reaches 120hz? Really want to try all options before/if I send it in, I don't want to bother waiting for dell to have someone fix it/**** it up.

Ask @bloodhawk and @t456 they have deep knowledge about panels.

Problem solved. Wasn't aware hwinfo64 had this information as I only ever used it for sensors.

    Monitor Name (Manuf):B173QTN [DELL P/N: 2JVM6]

This is in fact a 60hz 1440p panel and my build is listed as a 120hz panel so a call to dell would fix this however I won't bother, to much of a headache and wait.

Thank you all for your help.

You should contact them...The 120hz + G-Sync is a few hundred dollar upgrade.
