Anyone know why the UHD display config with 1070/1080GTX isn't available for the R4 any more?

Hi. You should be able to find an UHD display with a Nvidia GTX 1080 GPU here.

Yep - you sure can but not sure why anyone would want to... especially if you are looking for optimum gaming.

Thanks. The UK site hasn't had these configs for several weeks now. I looked at the US site yesterday to see if it was a screen shortage, and didn't find them there either. But are now. So looks like it is just UK dell then?

I just think the IPS UHD looks better than the TN QHD pixel/colour/contrast wise. Honestly for me the extra smoothness from 120Hz is not that noticeable to warrant getting it. Also QHD doesn't have optimus unlike UHD. UHD downscaling might be the biggest problem, but not even sure if I'll need to do that. Although UHD real estate for a 17" might be too much. But at the moment UHD that is what I have in mind. I could save coin and go 1070 GTX and FHD (as 1080 GTX would be overkill with FHD).

Yep - I tried both - downscaling is a ***** and made the final decision easy. if you are not gaming on the 17 .. ie - using an external display then I could see one or two use cases but if you plan to game on the 17 panel then QHD is so much better (have to experience it IMO ...) The new QHD's are actually a bit better than the old ones.. no scan and with a bit of color correction I can say I like the display ... I have it sitting next to one of the all time great display's - Apple's 27 cinema display BTW.

I have both laptops sitting here next to me, I have a 1080 with the "New" QHD that Dell is now using and I have the UHD with the 1070. Ill tell you I prefer the QHD with Gysnc, just so much smoother and honestly I can hardly tell this one is a TN. I will say the colors dont "Pop" as much as they do on the UHD but it is still a pretty sharp and bright screen. The other thing that was driving me nuts on the UHD was the motion blur it kind of reminded me of like a early 2000 LCD.

Ill try to get a picture of them both next to one and other with my Iphone so people that are curious can see, IMO I like the 1440 QHD over the UHD.

Thanks. I like to know if I went with the UHD under what circumstances would I need to downscale the res? and is it easy or difficult to do (I'm still on win 7)?

Windows it self does a OK job scaling to 4k, I ran into alot of issues with app scaling that either made it to small to read or was just plain un useable. I ended up having to run 1080p most the time as the apps were lagging. The computer it self did a fine job at handling the 4k tho

Reversed, the QHD looks a little more warm and the UHD is colder. Alot of this can be adjusted thur color correct and display settings. This is just what it was on at that time.

TN panel in a darker room with a fresh install of Windows 10. I will say its one of the best looking TN panels I have seen in a Laptop in a long time. I cant seem to get a clear picture of the text but it is a very crisp panel.

Why are there different configurations for different regions?

(Also - I asked about the UHD with the 1080 a little while ago and was advised it wasn't an available config.)
