    Hey guys,

I installed my SSD into my AW 13 r2 and got the message on boot that there are no Bootable Devices Found. However, when I go into the setup/bios it says "Fixed HDD Samsung SSD 85 (500 GB). Which means there is a Bootable Device

I ran the onboard diagnostics and it came back with no errors and said nothing was wrong.
    What should I do?
    Thanks

Make sure its set to AHCI on BIOS instead of RAID.. seems more like a BIOS issue.. if u had OS installed on SSD, and not detecting, then it might be a driver issue.. if new then most probably u have to set it to ahci

I've seen this advice on numerous occasions but don't really understand why. I was able to back up and restore my old ssd or HDD drives to new m.2 nvm drives without changing to AHCI. Same on MSI and Alienware.

Is this required only for fresh installs? Which I never do.

    Just curious...

when u backup its different scenario, it saves the format whether it was RAID or AHCI format.. when u fresh install it doesnt.. and recent alienware BIOS defaults to RAID instead of AHCI, so sometimes people dont see their SSD when installing windows.. Yes mostly for fresh install

Thank you for the explanation; I wondered about this as well. I guess that makes sense. I suppose I've never come across this issue since I never do a fresh install. Just uninstall the bits I don't want from the default load after cloning or restoring depending on the system. Sometimes a clone doesn't work because many of the clone apps don't support NVM drives as targets. Backup/Restore seems to be a pretty reliable way to migrate to SSD.
