New Panel for Alienware 15 R2

Hey guys, my old 15 R2 panel broke few days back, i had three different panels, from the lowest quality LG to worst Samsung Ones, like the LG WF6SPM1 A.K.A KFKVO from LG and SDC48 from samsung, im currenly not getting budget friendly LG WF6 SPA1 from ebay or even aliexpress, they only give compatible ones, which i dont want, but i found better panels of AUO and CHIMEI or Innolux
AUO B156HAN04.2 120hz refresh rate, 72% color gamut, and IPS display with 25ms response time, comes around 100USD including shipping, on other hand i found this Chiemei which was used on MSI raider series with 94% adobe rgb and 120hz TN panel with 2.5/3ms repsonse time, contrast ratio of 500:1 cuz its a TN panel, 94% color gamut along with 120hz is a good thing, but this thing comes around 150USD including shipping, if you guys have any alternate suggestions please let me know, im curious about the fit, both have identical sizes / mounting brackets.. and both have max of 6W on peak brightness.. it takes 1 month on aliexpress..

Be careful on aliexpress you can get "compatible" panel and the seller give you different panel which technically fits and will argue with you


Make sure the payment method you're using can be charged back with the bank / credit card company you're using

Always put pressure that you want the exact panel, regardless of what the seller says


Be a toxic buyer if the seller is arguing with you, threaten all kinds of reports/chargeback and possibly legal action





As for the display, it really boils down if you're ok with TN contrast or willing to give up some response time to get IPS level quality

 

so far my shopping with aliexpress was fine, yes ive asked them for Grade A+ new same model panel, the swap only happens on lower end models, also i found out when swapping to 120hz panels, brightness will be stuck at maximum, not sure what to do about that..

no response.. i found a 4K panel with display assembly on parts people, including shipping it comes around 240USD.. which is 16K INR.. is it worth it.. and also it shows my R2 is not compatible, i thot our motherboard supports 40pins, the assembly comes with 40pin edp cable, motherboard doesnt ?

 

Hi, I am waiting to receive B156HAN04.2 to replace the 120hz 1080p TN on my 15 R4. Did you face any problems with customs for the panel ordered on AliExpress?

 

no issues, i already got the B156HANO4.2, 120hz IPS panel.. i got it from a reliable dealer. panel looks gorgeous.. little lightbleeed when on black colors, and brightness control doesnt work, apart from that best looking panel. love the colours.. i never had issues with indian customs.. ive registerd in ICC..

 

Great. I was eyeing this panel for a long time. 8 bit IPS 120hz panel with 30 pin edp. The brightness control was holding me back, but seeing "Bob of All Trades" panel swap video and no other better alternative, made me finally order it. For the brightness control, I would use an overlay. Thanks for confirming that the panel looks gorgeous.

 

I swapped my 1080p panel for the 4k non-touch one. I needed the UHD eDP cable as well but it worked fine.
