Samsung has recently released 32GB DDR4 Ram single module with 2666Mhz bus. Is it compatible with the AW Motherboard? Mine is Alienware 17r4.
    Thanks.

Yes that's the one I have on my laptop, check my signature I listed the model number. It works but only runs @ 2400 MHz. not the rated 2666 MHz.

But OP has 17r4 and I'm unsure if RAM slot actually support 32GB per slot as opposed to Dell's outdated 16GB per slot docs. I'm damn sure 17r4 can run 2667MHz or higher (if the OP has HK chip obviously!). I'm not pouring fuel to the fire nor applying salt to a fresh wound. (A51M is firmware locked to 2400MHz on 4xSODIMMs)

I've checked intel ark and it's said even i7 7820HK is not possible to reach 2666Mhz, please clarify if I'm wrong. Obviously mine is 7700HQ. Also from the website, both kaby gen cpu should support upto 64GB of ram, unless Alienware decided to mess it up.

EDIT: Following this link the Alienware 17r4 should adapt with 2666Mhz 32gb per slot ram.

For some reason, they WORK perfect on R4, but does not allow boot on R5, weird since the R5 is 8950HK and the R4 is 7820HK...

Why would you need 64gb on laptop? 16gb is enough in most case. 32gb is much more than enough.

Better to buy desktop, laptop never get performance as desktop which will be cheaper anyway with same specs and much efficient.

16GB is a ridiculously low amount of RAM these days for most professional applications I can think of. I'm struggling with 32GB actually. Not all AW users are kids or pure gamers. Put another way: my best guess is that most AW users are not kids or just pure gamers.

On top of that you ain't taking your desktops with you to bussiness meetings (for example to show or pitch your demo to investors or a board meeting) as with an laptop you can move it around without much of a problem (only weigth would be the problem)

Please forget about the laptop desktop thing. This topic posted in the right forum, right subforum. And this one is Alienware case, I don't mind it's just a laptop or something else. But I do mind that every time I opened taskmanager I see ram have committed over 33GB just in 16GB system. I hate the feel slow as hell while changing tasks and tasks. You might not see the benefit of having 64 gigs of ram but I do. Also, this post only narrowed into news and compatibility and such. Not asking for an off-topic argument. Thanks

As you have mentioned, that is completely reasonable tradeoff that Alienware user has to keep in mind and it's depend on which type of meeting you have. I do have a small business meeting but it's the type of meeting that I will have to demonstrate live rendering both in AE or 3ds. AE is very ram dependant. Also, I need it to demonstrate it in a short time with my colleague and so on. The only problem that holding me back is weight. That's all.
