So i just received my new Alienware and the first thing i did was run benchmarks. My cpu temps rose up to 92 Degree's. I was thinking of re pasting but unfortunately grizzly thermal paste's which i ordered will take up to 2 months to come to where im from. I already have Arctic Silver 5 paste. Should i just use this paste in the mean time? Or should i just wait the 2 months? What do you guys think?

    Thanks!

AS5 should be fine - what you should really do is check whether 1 or 2 of your cores are getting much higher temps than the others. If so, you have to replace the thermal pad with a thinner one as per @iunlock 's guide.

Yeah they are about 9 degrees apart. Already ordered thermal pads and paste. Should i just skip the paste and go for the liquid metal? I am somewhat tech savy so applying it will be no problem its just i dont have any experience with it only regular paste. Also thanks @iunlock for that detailed guide without it i would be so lost.

If you're somewhat inexperienced - LM may not be the best way to start. LM is highly conductive so if you get any of it in the wrong place you can end up frying the whole thing.

You are correct I don't want to end up frying my new system. I will try the Artic Silver 5 repaste and post back here my results.

Thanks for the response! Have a great day

    Even AS 5 is conductive.

Wait, then which Arctic product was non-conductive?

Arctic Silver Ceramique 2 and Arctic MX4 are non conductive. Some others include Kryonaut, IC Diamond, Gelid Extreme.

I have experience with as5 tho so I'm comfortable using it. Would AS5 be a line or a dot for applying?

Repaste done and assembled! Cpu maxed out at 83 after 3 hours of dying light no undervolt. Few issues tho, my touch pad seemed to have stopped working also my brightness control. I made sure all the cables were plugged properly so I'm assuming this is a driver problem? It was working prior to repaste. Any advice?

Do you know which cable it is? The one behind the ports next to monitor and ports or the one inside the mother board? Or just the ones near the HDD? Haha sorry I'm a newbie
