    Hello;

    So, I just received an Alienware 13 R3 that I ordered last week. I love the OLED display and the build quality. But I am having issues with the track pad. It... seems to think that I have two fingers on it, and starts zooming in and out in whatever screen it is that I am working on.

    I have actually spent some time on the Windows desktop just moving the track pad in circles, and suddenly the mouse pointer will stop moving, and I have to lift my finger and put it back down for it to start tracking. Sometimes whatever icons I have on the desktop will start moving around, increasing and decreasing in size.

    Has anyone experienced this before? Is it maybe - I hope - a software issue? I just got it yesterday, and it would suck to have to go through the whole RMA process and all that... :S

    Thanks for your input!

    It's a software issue but Dave2D recently posted some drivers which should fix the issue. At least, they have for me.

    Watch this video, download the Synaptics drivers and install them. Restart your computer and it should be better

    Hey there;

    Yeah, I actually saw the Dave2D video yesterday and tried them, but I kept having the same problem. After using the Windows reset to start fresh, the issue kept happening, so I thought it was a hardware issue.

    I called the Alienware Support number, as I got 2 years of the premium support with it, and after running the BIOS diagnostics and installing the Dell Pointer driver, it started working back again... which... didn't make much sense to me.

    So I am happily installing Steam, Battle.net, GoG Galaxy, Visual Studio, games and what not... and it started happening again! That's when I realized I had a green icon thingie over the battery icon in the taskbar; it means it's now in battery saver mode. As soon as I plugged the machine to the AC adapter, the track pad started working perfectly again. So I think it has something to do with the Battery Saver mode.

    Nevertheless, I will try the Dave2D video. I also found this post from iSeek4Edmund about them not working perfectly.

    Thanks, though! I will keep you all updated.

    I have just done the Dave2D method on my 15r3, I had to go into settings maunually and reenable the gestures but other than that it works a charm.

    Scrolling is smoother, gestures also work better.
