basically i have the chance to get either a 17 r3 or a 15 r3 with a 6700hq cpu , gtx 970m 16gb ram , 1080p display for around 860 bucks . Dont know which one to get , since both have the same specs i want to know if there is any advantages of getting either. i like the 15 inch because isnt too big and a like also the 17 model because according to what i have seen on the net it has great temps . Is there any difference in temps between the two?

edit: in case youre wondering why i want a bga laptop if i already have one gt60 (signature)? because im planning to get the external amplifier later on

They shouldn't have the same specs. The AW 15 r3 is the newest generation, all have gtx 10xx chips.

You mean the AW 15 r2? If so they are essentially the same (even the same motherboard)

What are the LCD screen specs on both? That could be a deciding factor. See if you can get pics to show light bleed

The AW 15 220-nit display seems very dim. Maybe an owner can chime in, but most screens are 300-nits now with some at 400-nits

Screen is most important to me, as it is what you are always looking at, main component of the laptop. Hard to say which to get with no info on the AW 17; but if the screen is the same as my 17 R1, then it is very good.

Personally I would save my money though. Why settle for either? The AGA pairs best with the current gen AW 13 OLED :)

They certainly do have AGA compatibility. I was specifically referring to the AW 13 R3. Quad core + GTX 1060 starts at only $300 more than your current budget.

Pictures of any pascal version (13, 15, or 17) will show the large AGA port on the back if you need confirmation.
