Hello guys. I've been using the Macbook Pro Retina 13 MGX72 for 6 months and quite happy with it. The problem is the onboard Intel Iris GPU couldn't even play Dota 2 smoothly on lowest settings. I cannot use laptops that is over 13in because of my weak knee I got from an injury long time ago and my job requires me to move from place to place all the time. A laptop that is over 13 will be a drag.
So, I look around the internet and I found that the Alienware 13 meets my requirements, an inch thick and 2kg laptop is acceptable for me. I intent to buy the Alienware 13 (i7 5500U, 16Gb ram, 512gb ssd, GTX860m and QHD touchscreen) for 1350$ on Amazon. It is not available in my country so I cannot know how it feels in real world, only references on the internet.
My needs for a laptop will be:
- Autocad drawings
- Sketchup drawings and occasional VRay rendering.
- Photoshop, Illustrator
- Medium-Light gaming such as Dota 2, Fifa 15, X-Com... (Because I have a beast PC tower at home to handle the likes of The Witcher 3...)
- Good battery life (I know it cannot comppete with the MBPr 13 but at least 5 hours or more on normal use such as watching a movie on Netflix)
- Good build quality
So, you guys please give me an advice for those needs, are they worth the trade with the macbook?
Need advice on switching from MBPr 13in to Alienware 13
