Please share more info about the new laptops if you can find anything about the new laptops (the real announcement should be 9PM seattle time)

    1. First news: Nvidia confirms there will be a 15 inch alienware with the new nvidia 10 series GPU

    2. This video just surfaced. The new alienware laptops will feature Tobii's Eye-Tracking system

    3. This is a little old but I thought I'd add it to this post, The new logo underneath the screen, you can also see it slightly on the video linked above

So this new feature basically uses more cpu cycles for something pointless when the laptop is already limited to 45W?

I might be wrong, but I think it's more like an extra input device on your laptop, not required to be used at any given time. It would be Very stupid if it's something that is constantly running. But of course there is the question of how pointless it is for you as a person buying the laptop, and how much does it add to the price. And who knows, perhaps it's something you can add or not on your laptop when choosing its specs

@Papusan and @Mr. Fox sure are going to have a lot of a good time hearing about this.

And everyone is head over toes (on the provided links) for something that has no GPU announced, no specs, and just has Alienware label on it.

I'm not a hater of them, but really, nowadays they're just mid end laptops at most. or rather, enthusiast needs cannot be satisfied with BGA nor with soldered GPUs, and even if they make sockets, if it's going to be for 6700hq instead of 6700K, I don't see why they make it. The CPUs will be impossible to sell after one updates...

Why can't all companies just go back to making powerhouses instead? I mean, a thin laptop won't be able to cool 1080 either way, why not make it socketed and beef it up to the sky? :D

Can be very useful for the Redmond Morons :D
Eye tracking interprets natural human behavior which helps us to gain deep insights into people's attention and actions!!

I dont think the majority of people that buy gaming laptops buy them for benching only ;).

This eye tracking things is something I see popping up a lot recently. Deus Ex Manking Divided supports it and actively promotes it for example but I have no clue yet about how and what.

A nice spec bump and maybe individual RGB keys would be sufficient for me. I might just sell my laptop for around 800euro and buy the upgraded version.

Yeah. Probably because the majority buy BGA  :D

This eye tracking will be more like my use of 3D screen gimmick and the camera. Fully blocked :D Let the Redmond Morons get access to everything you do(even eye tracking :D). I'm certain they can/will use this info :p

You realize that Windows 10 data collection is largely the same as Windows 8, and 7 right? With the only difference being in Windows 7/8 it was called Consumer reports or something and you got the option to upload crash data individually. The only things different are the crash data is automatically uploaded, and the addition of Cortana monitoring keystrokes for her use. Both of those are easily disabled. Cortana you have to optionally sign in, and you can set the data collection to basic which makes it 100% like previous versions of Windows. You can also disable it entirely with a GPO.

You also do realize that Google, Apple, a **** ton of software, also does exactly the same thing right? Have an android phone? Google is doing the same thing. Have an iPhone, Apple is doing the same thing. There are plenty of games + software that also collects usage data.

It's also funny (and this isn't directed to you, just the general public) how people complain about Windows collecting data but WILLINGLY give up huge chunks of their data / private information to Google and Facebook. You know websites that make money indirectly from your data? How do you think Google became so rich? Something like 90%+ of their income is from Ads, and how do they make so much money from those ads? They have huge amounts of data on hundreds of millions of people and so they can tailor ads a lot better than anyone else can. Same thing with Facebook.

You really cannot complain about Windows 10 collecting data while simultaneously giving up every bit of your personal life to Facebook (once again not you, just a general public thing)...that's rather contradictory.

    ---

Either way I do not see the point in this stupid eye tracking crap. MSI tried it and I think it was a failure. Samsung tried it, once again failure.

It's not like moving your mouse, pressing a keyboard key, or sliding your finger over a touchpad takes longer or is more difficult and moving your eyes. Literally every game video I've watched that uses it just makes it seem gimmicky as **** and not useful in any way.

Waste of money and I really hope its not a default option because **** that.

I have my own not so good opinion about all those data collecting gimmicks.

On the other hand, to supervise more data they need more people, it will become similar to communism, one in two people will work for them and supervise another person :D

On the good hand, alienware seemingly steps completely out of Gaming laptops segment, at least they will become just average - upper middle class laptops, and the higher end market will be taken by a company that will invest more in RD or face the same fall :D

    Interesting....

Will the new fan / cooling system of the AW cool the 1080 better than Clevo's?

Will have to wait and see...

Better than Clevo? Those new AW are sporting BGA... They will have lower temps with much less cooling, but this also means lower power...
