    hi everyone,
I recently took the plunge and ordered my first ever laptop over the Christmas holidays. After a year of deliberation I decided on the Alienware 13 w/OLED. (Possible overkill for using google) Today I received a dispatch email. Excited and nervous at the same time (I have never seen one before, and it was a lot of cash). In the lead up to my purchase I read a lot of good things and worrying things about this laptop and other Alienware. What I was looking for from this forum of peers is can you offer some advise on what are the things to look out for, what software to use to find out etc. In other words and "idiots guide to my first laptop, and how to find out if there is something wrong in the short time you have to return it". Many thanks.

Just check if everything is ok when it arrives. Screen and so on. I think Aw 13 OLED is a great buy.

Some people have has issues with battery wear so that's something to watch out for, also temperatures although the 13 R3 is better about that and seems to have less problems.

    Thanks for the replies.

I have read about people having to re-paste the cpu due to heat issues. I'm hoping this won't be a problem and dell have seen the feedback. I'll keep an eye on the temps, and battery life.

    Anything else?

That should be set up on the laptop by default, at least it was on my machine.

Good tip for battery life and screen life.

Slight disappointment today. Tracking info can through today and eta is the 24th. On the plus side a few more days to prepare any tests and checks when it does.
