I found that I also lose brightness control when running on the very latest nvidia driver (381.65), I managed to regain my brightness control by going back to 378.92 drivers, or the latest ones from Dell.

I don't know if it matters but my exact process was uninstalling everything nvidia, restarting, uninstalling Intel Graphics Driver, restarting, installing Intel Graphics Driver, restarting, installing nvidia driver 378.92 (using "Custom" install and checking the "Clean Install" box), and it works now. Hope it works for you, I was very relieved that I didn't have to reinstall Windows 10 like I saw suggested on reddit.
