Rest assured things are still going great. Currently I'm running BIOS 1.0.8 on the latest vBIOS and after a few teething issues after a fresh install of Windows 10 I'm now in a happy place!
Here's my temps after 70 mins of BF1 running at 4GHz (-50mV UV) and GPU at +190/.300:
I finally got that PCH and Toshiba SSD temps under control it seems! CPU max temp peaked at 75C, average ~65C, GPU peaked at 67C but average of 63C.
Note this had NO throttling on either the CPU and GPU and over several maps of BF1 I got an average of 115FPS on Ultra at QHD resolution! This thing is still a monster! (and I don't even have KabyLake)

That's great. I'm very happy with my unit too. I'm using 1.0.8.
We have similar temps but my PCH still will force throttle the CPU when reaching 75°. Thottlestop seems to have an impact on this issue when I uncheck "PROCHOT"...
My SSDs are hot too, but the 512 Toshiba (system) is still way cooler than my 1To Crucial (games dir) which regulary hits 65° when gaming.
Maybe a re-install of windows then... What issues did you have ? Did you use the windows repair/reinstall function or did you use the image provided by Dell ?Pete Light likes this. -
How hot are your SSDs getting then? I did a mod for these too.
For Windows I bought the SSD from @GoNz0 so not sure which OS he preloaded for me. Main issue I had was getting it to boot via my new Windows install by default but Gonz0 sorted me out on that one! Can share when you need me to. Was all relatively straight forward following someones guide on the forums here, search for "Clean Windows 10 install". Still haven't got Windows Hello working but Tobii are helping me out with this

How often do you move your system around? I have zero experience with LM and I move my laptop around on a daily basis so I don't know if I would be better off going with traditional paste just in case.

Have you checked to see if it leaks? Thats why i opted for LM

I take my unit with me everyday in its backpack, and I go to work with it. No problem so far.
I put some fujipoly on the PCH. It's slowing down the heating process but as there is no airflow there, I end up with the same temps: just below 70° with my vented cooler and 77-78 without active cooling. But these temps shouldn't trigger any throttling though.
For the 2 SSDs I bought some little heatsinks wich cover the entire lenght of the drives. I lost a few °C (from 72 ingame to 65).
ME Andromeda is pretty demanding : CPU : around 70-75° and GPU @ a steady 73°.
So far ME:A is the only game I have a problem with. My repaste is solid : I'm around 35-36° on idle on all cores, (OC @ 4.1GHz). -

Switched to the latest 1.0.12 / 1.0.8 BIOS for testing purpose : throttling is gone, even with a non-cooled, 85° PCH (ingame)...
Temps are all over the place though. Could 1.0.8 be "lying" or tricking HWinfo about temps ? PCH is 8-9° hotter on iddle with 1.0.12 and my system SSD jumps from 45-50° to almost 65°... How can this be ? -

I left voltage without modification compared to OC Lv3 : I adjust via BIOS (x41), 100000 PL, voltage @ 100.
Yes I tried the pads but I didn't see a huge difference.
Watched this video on another thread wich explains XTU and Throttlestop a bit. I applied the same settings and I'm gonna play for testing.
BTW I too have the "GT fuses limit" on in HWinfo.Last edited: Apr 9, 2017 -
If you wanna unlock your CPU properly you'll want to reset BIOS settings first before playing around in XTU/Throttlestop
