For any of you who have the LG 173WFG 17.3" FHD 144Hz IPS Display which is in most Alienware Area-51m laptops, here is the Spyder5Elite calibrated Profile.

    Download LG Philips 173WFG.icm

    NTSC.jpg

Here are how the Spyder5Elite App set the options in Control Panel / Color Management (ignore the model displayed that's from my previous laptop's screen, the file should be Dell LG Philips 173WFG.icm in our case)

Now, click on the Change system defaults button on the bottom right of the Advanced tab.

Then head over to the Advanced tab again in the new Window that popped out and check the box at the bottom which says: " Use Windows display calibration" and you will see the changes in color immediately when you do that.

After applying this color profile, you will notice the colors are much more rich and vibrant. They're very pale and dull with the default profile. This screen was in dire need for a calibrated color profile!

Solid! One of the first things that I did was to calibrate the display and yes you're absolutely right...it needed it lol... The FHD panel itself is pretty nice.... definitely on the higher end and with a nice calibration it really shines...

    Thanks for sharing!

Any information about the response time of this panel?
I was unable to find it anywhere.

    I can confirm this...
I have visually compared this to a couple desktop monitors that say they have 4ms response times and the LG is visually faster.
It is important to also know that the AUO has a similar response time even though places have reported it to be faster.
I'm super picky and its very difficult to see a difference if there is any.

@Ultra Male Just going to say, your latest calibration is a bit warmer (just outside my preference). Overall, your original file has better blacks than any of my calibrations and I will want to ask what were your settings for white/black points, luminance values, etc. since we're using different software. Still working on calibrating this until it meets my visual standards... if not I will have to swap the i1Display for a Spyder5 and see how the software works differently vs. the devices used. Hearing that the recent S5 has better everything over the S3 and S4 last year.

EDIT: Just going to say I will probably never be able to get the same blacks as yours after finding out I had an AUO display this whole time so different contrast ratios. I did manage to get some good color calibration along with my hours of testing and observing changes to 5 still 8K images. Will make a thread for the AUO calibration.

Fun fact is that your calibrations for blacks and whites are better, but colors are slightly different.

you're right, I don't remember the settings either. Can you upload the original file if you have it so I can repost it in the OP?

PS: Never tag me bro, I have disabled tags so I never get notifications about any tags due to some people abusing the tagging feature.

Is this for the Legion Y740's LG LP173WFG-SPD2 panel too? I'm getting my AUO panel replaced cause it came with a lot of backlight bleed, I requested them to order the LG panel for me.

damn, I just double check and the panel replacement of my unit its a Chi-Mei, I knew something was odd compared to my first unit and wanted to changed anyway, it was that, the panel was different after all the manufacturer, why they changed manufacturer?

PD: thanks Spartan for keeping updating and giving some love to the 51m even you long ago left the ship XD

I mentioned this to you in the A51m forum. I think this panel is the only one that has their EyeSafe technology. But it also means you'll lose G-Sync if you downgrade the BIOS to 1.5.0. If you would prefer that BIOS then take the old panel and fix it to the new base.

Yep, I just changed the Chi Mei for the LG from my old laptop, also because the Chi Mei have very noticeable backlight bleeding so it was uncomfortable when the LG one didn’t have this problematic as noticeable as the Chi Mei panel.
