Just ran a UserBenchmark scan on my AW15R3 and my CPU result is terrible! Why?

Use HWiNFO64 to take a look at your temperatures while running benchmarks and report back :)

Thanks for the suggestion but it appears temperature has nothing to do with it this time:

I cleared the max/min prior to re-running UserBench.

    Update:

Spoke too soon it seems! I launched Intel ETU and it says it is thermal throttling! (See screenshot)

The reason this is weird is because the fans aren't on, the CPU temperature appears stable at around 50C, room temperature is on the cool side, GPU is not too warm, not been gaming, laptop doesn't feel warm at all. Could it be locked into throttling by a setting?
    The mystery deepens...

IT should not be throttling at 50*C - that should only happen at 95*C or above. Reset the BIOS or update it. There's something wonky.

I reset BIOS settings to default (I'm currently on 1.1.7 by the way) and then put 'fan performance mode' to 'ON'. Booted into computer and the fans are powering away like they are about to take off! Temperature has dropped to 32C on the CPU package and it's STILL showing as thermal throttling 'YES'!

I'm at a loss. All very odd.

I guess my next step is to flash BIOS back to a previous version, just downloading 1.0.12 in anticipation... :(

Wow. 25% utilization and 1 core...

Also, before changing bios reset your bios like @don_svetlio said. Not reset bios settings, but physical reset. Unplug, then you remove Laptop Battery and bios battery (small coin battery) and hold down power button for 10 seconds. replace batteries and turn back on

Ok, I think it may be fixed. ;)

I was using Throttlestop previously to undervolt the CPU (for temperature reasons) and, even though I removed it from startup to eliminate it being a cause of any issues, it must have still been running somehow in the background or something o_O.

Anyway, solved the issue by unticking the box 'BD PROCHOT' (on the main Throttlestop screen). Don't ask me what this is or how it was ticked in the first place - wasn't me! Now the processor is not being throttled and scores are looking respectable enough. Time to turn these noisy fans down and try gaming!

Thanks all for the input! Hope this thread may help someone in the future! *Phew!*

I could be wrong but I think that PROCHOT is the setting that tells the CPU to go into energy saving mode (something that is sometimes accidentally triggered when you undervolt)?

Does this mean you can't permanently undervolt it?
