There is a opening on the bottom middle of the laptop screen is this supposed to be here? imgur: the simple image sharer
There is also light coming out of it whenever the computer is on where the logo should be imgur: the simple image sharer
Is there a problem with my laptop?

Seems as if someone internally dented it. I would return it for a replacement.

I'm surprised at how many people are getting replacements already, lol. I think this is the third person? Someone in the AW 15 section just asked about a similar issue. Dell seems to have really lowered standards for production and whatnot. At least the warranty remains untouched - return it!
To answer your question: No, that's not supposed to be like that. -
Okay I'll try to get a replacement tomorrow if I can.
this is also the 3rd time I reinstalled nvidia drivers due to nvidia geforce experience not detecting my 860m
Wait would they still accept a replacement since u had this for a month.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 22, 2015 -
If you've had it for more than 30 days (from shipment date) they will not replace it without first attempting to fix it. -
Okay thanks

Sadly it is not a broadwell cpu and is the base model.

That's odd. Can you check device manager (under display adapters) to see if it is there?
-
Checked it it's still there. If it helps I used drivers straight from nvidia the moment I got the laptop instead of the dell drivers.
-
Ah, then it must be that the iGPU is taking priority. Setting everything to high performance and disabling the iGPU in device manager (this step is optional) should make you use the 860m.

I hope I get a replacement instead dell support trying to fix it since I don't want this to be a repeating issue.

What am I looking at? If possible, could someone hightlight it for me (like a red box)?
Is there supposed to be an opening on the bottom of the screen for the alienware 13
