if it works, you are not going to see a improvement, because all the ports are sata 3 and the max speed is 600 mb/s for writing and reading

Doubtful. Those speeds usually work only with PCIe.

It should work with the R2. ;)

As you can see the protocol is difficult to find on boards

Damn, is that speed something really noticeable when compared to lets say the 850 evo on real world scenarios? (opening programs like 3ds max, illustrator, after effects...etc)

i have 2 samsung 850 EVO m.2 and i am really happy. the performance is amazing i cant imagine something more fast. i want to tell you that the pcie ssd reach temperatures like 100°C in seconds, that is why i don't recommend this type of ssd on notebooks.
this temperatures are on a desktop, now just imagine the same scenario on a notebook that all the components are really close and the pcie SSD are without heatsink, it will damage something like battery, case, hdd, cables, etc.

For those that have a m.2 in their AW15, how much temperature are you seeing from your m.2? Didn't realize that the temperature would hit 80C on a m.2 ssds.

m.2 sata3 is different than a pcie m.2 (more speed bus = more heat)
