Since I have to send my laptop to get repaired because it won't turn on, is it a must to give my computer password? I can't delete any of my personal information off the ssd so I am just wary.

Don't ship the HD. I never do. (unless it's broken)

    Just put it up somewhere.

I have sent plenty of computers to various service centers and they don't need the drive. If it truly a power issue, they can do it without the drive. I had my screen replaced on another Alienware and they said send the drive and I just said no, and they said ok.

All right, but one more thing. The tech support guy said not to send the charger, but the paper said it is critical I do. Who do I listen to?

Depends on if you think the charger might be bad or not. If you know the charger is good don't send it. The more loose stuff you send in the bigger chance it gets lost.

Speaking of that, you have tried a different charger right? Or excluded it as a possible easy fix?

Last time I sent my machine in for a power issue, I did not send the power supply...

They fixed the power issue, and sent me another power supply... But the machine came back with dried hot glue all over the lid, and they also replaced the screen for some odd reason, it came with horrible backlight bleed. After a few calls, they sent an onsite tech to replace the screen, and the new replacement screen had a dead pixel. I then demanded a brand new system replacement and they approved it.

It was fully charged when I shut it down before it stopped working. The charger powered on the alien symbol sometimes, but nothing else and sometimes nothing at all. My only other charger with the same wattage would not properly fit, but it would hold a charge if at an angle, but not after it stopped turning on.

I am now nervous this will be an issue. Does anyone know how common this is?

How long have you had it? Is it too late to ask for a refund? If you can get a refund, that might be the best approach. If they are not offering on-site next business day repair that seems to eliminate on of the few remaining compelling reasons left to buy from Dell/Alienware. You can get a depot repair from any of their competitors, so that's really special. If it's not too late you could use the refund toward buying a P870DM-G with a 6700K and 200W GTX 980 for a compelling powerhouse. If you buy from a PremaMod partner shop it will come with a fully unlocked system BIOS and performance @Prema vBIOS and all should be covered under your warranty with the PremaMod partner.
